IPTV and WebTV describe systems aimed at using IP streaming infrastructure, in order to convey TV contents in digital format through broadband internet connection. TV contents streaming is often offered via Video on demand and is coupled to web and VOIP access, as these services share the same infrastructure. Special mention has to be given to the development platform realized by our working Group in order to offer interactive TV solutions independent from underneath communication infrastructure. The solution we offer can manage and monitor in an integrated way a video contribution system independently from the source platform, be it a TV “transmission” on terrestrial analogic channel, on satellite channel or on digital terrestrial. The full system allows the streaming of video signal acquired over IP diffusion channel, which can be usable from different platforms like Personal Computer, Plasma monitors, Video matrixes. The managing platform is composed of different modules: VOD (video on demand), Recorder and EPG (Electronic Programme Guide). Video on demand (VOD) is a TV interactive service allowing, by “pay for view” or free, the streaming of a TV programme ( documentary, TV series, concert, movie, football match etc.) at any instant during the day, on simple user’s request. Digital Video Archiver- complete system for receipt and decoding of digital or analogical TV channels. The centralized system decodes and archives the desired TV channels and allows Live or on demand streaming over IP network to PC and set-top-box. The recorder –PVR (Personal Video Recorder), also known as DVR (Digital Video Recorder), allows easy streaming of a high amount of recording programmes, by consulting of video titles from the contents’ list (EPG: Electronic Programme Guide). EPG- Full Guide to video contents, allowing navigation, selection and contents finding enabled by a search tool via title, hour, channel, etc. The EPG can be activated by remote control, by desk keyboard or by mobile keypad. |
